SBA Director Makes Courtesy Visit to SBDC Office at ETSU

Walter Perry, SBA District Director

Walter Perry, US Small Business Administration District Director—Nashville made a courtesy visit to the College of Business and Technology Small Business Development Center on Tuesday, May 6. Perry was in town scouting locations for the Third Annual Services for Those Who Have Served conference to be held in Johnson City, this year, in late September or early October.

“We had a very productive meeting,” said Dr. Bob Justice, TSBDC Director. Potential sites for the conference as well as possible key topical areas were discussed. This year’s conference will focus on four areas of importance to our veterans—housing, entrepreneurship, jobs, and health care. “At this point we have four major sponsors identified for the event. Besides the SBA and the TSBDC at ETSU The US Departments of Housing and Urban Development and Veterans Affairs have signed on to the project,” Justice said.

The US SBA is a financial sponsor of the TSBDC program so Perry wanted to see how the TSBDC was performing and offered his assistance in accomplishing the mutually beneficial goals established for the TSBDC program. The SBA has loan guaranty dollars available. It is just a matter of matching a credit-worthy borrower with a bank willing to make SBA loans.
